French Contemporary Artist in London | Thompson’s Gallery

I am delighted to announce that two of my paintings have been selected for the Autumn Annual Exhibition at Thompson’s Gallery in London, from 22 September to 9 October 2026.
This exhibition is an important moment in my artistic journey in the UK. As a French contemporary painter working primarily in oil, I am particularly happy to be exhibiting in England for the second time, following my participation in the Handpicking Spring exhibition at Prince & Pilgrim Gallery in Richmond-upon-Thames in 2025.

Two paintings selected for the Thompson’s Gallery Autumn Annual
The two paintings selected for the exhibition are Victoria and Hope – Passage.
Both works explore themes that are central to my practice: vegetation, colour, light and our relationship with the living world.
My paintings belong to the field of contemporary figurative painting, while drawing on the spirit of the Nouvelle Figuration. I work between observation and intuition, combining botanical precision with the freedom of the painterly gesture.
Working primarily in oil on canvas, I construct each composition carefully, drawing on my background in architecture, before allowing colour, movement and spontaneity to take over.
I deliberately leave some areas of the painting unfinished. These open spaces allow the composition to breathe and invite the viewer's eye to participate in the image.
My intention is not simply to reproduce what I see, but to convey the atmosphere, vitality and emotional presence of the natural world.
I don’t paint landscapes; I paint the living world.

Gardens, nature and the inspiration of Kew Gardens
The living world is at the heart of my artistic practice.
I have always been fascinated by gardens, forests, vegetation and wildlife. Walking, observing and photographing nature are important parts of my creative process. I approach the natural world with the curiosity of an amateur naturalist, collecting images, colours, forms and unexpected encounters that gradually find their way into my paintings.
The Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, in London, have become a particularly important source of inspiration.
My first visits to Kew led me to explore the extraordinary relationship between Victorian glasshouse architecture and luxuriant vegetation. The Palm House and other glasshouses offer a fascinating meeting point between architecture and nature: highly structured spaces in which plants grow with extraordinary freedom and vitality.
This encounter gave rise to my Kew Gardens painting series.
For me, the garden is more than a beautiful subject. It can become a place of connection, renewal and refuge — a space where human beings can reconnect with the living world.
This dialogue between architecture, nature and colour is fundamental to my work.
From Richmond to London: my growing connection with the UK
My participation in the Thompson’s Gallery Autumn Annual follows my first recent exhibition in England at Prince & Pilgrim Gallery in Richmond-upon-Thames in 2025.
I exhibited my Kew Gardens paintings and gouaches in the Handpicking Spring group exhibition. The experience was particularly encouraging, with works entering the collections of around eight collectors.
This positive response strengthened my desire to develop my relationship with the British art scene and to continue presenting my work to audiences in the UK.
The exhibition at Thompson’s Gallery therefore represents a natural continuation of this journey.
I am especially pleased that this new exhibition takes place in Marylebone, in central London, close to Hyde Park — a part of the city that I particularly enjoy for its combination of art, architecture, gardens and urban life.
A French painter with a strong connection to England
Although I live and work near Paris, England has been an important source of inspiration for my artistic practice for many years.
I am drawn both to the British tradition of landscape and nature painting and to the particular culture of gardens, botanical observation and nature writing.
Visiting the exhibition in London
I will be in London from 21 to 23 September 2026, and I am very much looking forward to visiting Thompson’s Gallery and seeing my two paintings in the exhibition.
If you are in London during the exhibition, I would be delighted to welcome you to the gallery.
And if you are unable to visit in person, the Thompson’s Gallery Autumn Annual catalogue is already available online, featuring both of my paintings and a short text about my artistic practice.
